Welcome to the Goliath Historical Fencing Academy. We study armed and unarmed combat contained in historical manuals and manuscripts from the period of 1450 A.D. to approximately 1650 A.D. Among those weapons and weapon arts that we study are: Longsword, Long Knife, Dussack, Rapier, Dagger, Historical Wrestling, and Polearms. Our training is focused on academic study of various historical fighting systems with applications in competitive fencing tournament environments. There is no requirement to compete, although members of the club have competed internationally.
Our club is located right in Downtown Kenosha! We are both historical researchers and trained martial artists. We seek to recreate historical combat systems through textual analysis, and recreation of the historical contexts, both sport and martial, in which these skills would be manifest.
Disclaimer: While several of our members are experienced with the use of live edged weapons, the GHFA does not engage with any egded weapon training/testing, nor does it sponsor any events that do.
